   National Blind Childrens Society

The National Blind Childrens Society provides 4 key services for visually impaired children.

The National Blind Childrens Society is an organisation formed 10 years ago and is celebrating its 10th Anniversay in 2005.

This is a special year for the charity and the children who have benefited in the past, and those who may benefit in the future.

The charity was founded by Rod Carne, Visually Impaired himself, he knew of all the problems that children would encounter in their daily lives, education, and social time. The special difficulties in growing up, that the visually impaired children would have to master, such as balance and sensory perception, as well as the importance of owning technological aids to over the loss of sight, and compete with sighted people for a job in the workplace, and eventually, a place in their local community as a confident adult.

The Mission of the charity is to enable all visually impaired children to reach their educational and recreational goals.

The Vision of the charity is a world where all visually impaired children have equal opportunity to the provision of education which is adequately supported with sources of information provided in a suitable format for their needs, and where there are no barriers to sports and recreational activities.

The charity has a Holiday Home for children and families who may never have been able to enjoy a break from their daily routine. It is fully fitted and special manufactured for the children and their families and includes a wheel chair ramp and a patio for breakfast alfresco for visually impaired children in wheel chairs !

NBCS relies on public donations and support. Any help is gratefully received and wisely used. Funds can be donated to one of the above projects, and all the funding is used for that specific project.

Supporting the National Blind Childrens Society is giving a child “a brighter future”  Hope for the future, creates the will to learn. We want all children to be able to make their own decisions at the age of 16 years as to whether they wish to continue in education, or start at the work place. Whatever they chose, they should have equal opportunities to sighted children and a happy, confident future ahead of them, having been successful in education.  You can help them to achieve this. Your support matters so much to them NOW    -   Thank you
