Extra Steps and Beyond is a youth club for present and former students on the Steps Course at West Suffolk College. The club meets in Bury St Edmunds providing an opportunity for the students to maintain and renew friendships. As the students live across Suffolk, it is difficult for them to maintain friendships with former students due to difficulties in accessing transport and for some, limited communication or social skills. Taxis are funded for those otherwise unable to get to the club. The club employs youth workers to support the activities at club night plus occasional outings such as a trip to see football at Ipswich Town. For many, this is the only occasion they socialise with friends.
