Michael Charles Brain

I was born in Yorkshire and educated at Barnsley Broadway Grammar School and Cambridge University. I have spent most of my professional life in East Anglia, working in the engineering and management of telecommunications research and technology. I am married with two sons.

Now retired, I enjoy indulging my neglected interests, notably in photography and picture-framing, also in physics, psychology, philosophy, music, literature, films, and crosswords. I am a member of the Ipswich and District Photographic Society, and treasurer for the Ipswich Chamber Choir.

I have been a keen amateur photographer for most of my life. My subject matter is broad-ranging rather than specialised, but if I had to identify a particular interest, it would probably be in low-impact images which sit well on the sitting room wall, promoting calm and serenity. East Anglia is particularly rich in such images.

In spite of the many advantages of digital photography, I still prefer to use a darkroom to produce colour enlargements from 35mm negatives, and will be happy to consider commissions for prints up to 30 cm x 40 cm, framed or unframed. I can be contacted at the following address:
